About the role

Atlanta Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher for a Resource Room position at one of our elementary schools in Atlanta, GA. The ideal candidate will have experience developing and implementing IEPs, working with K–5 students with diverse learning needs, and collaborating with general education teachers in an inclusive environment.

This is a permanent, full-time position beginning August 10, 2026 for the 2026–2027 school year. The successful candidate will join a supportive team of educators committed to student growth and equitable learning opportunities for all.

Day-to-day responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education programs (IEPs) for a caseload of 12–18 students
  • Deliver specialized instruction in a resource room setting, supporting students in reading, writing, and math
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and school leadership
  • Communicate regularly with families about student progress and IEP goals
  • Maintain accurate documentation, progress reports, and compliance with federal and state IDEA regulations
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and annual IEP reviews
Requirements
Active Georgia Special Education teaching license
Bachelor's degree or higher in Special Education or related field
Minimum 2 years of IEP development and implementation experience
Experience in resource room or pull-out instructional settings
ABA certification — preferred but not required
CPI or crisis prevention training — preferred but not required
